The tour begins with a breath-taking journey along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. This is one of New Zealand’s most famous scenic road journeys with spectacular views around each bend. After passing through the sleepy township of Glenorchy at the base of the lake we enter the awe inspiring Mt Aspiring World Heritage area where Middle Earth comes to life. You will literally arrive in Paradise to enjoy a complementary picnic lunch with the glacial lakes, ancient forests and neck stretching peaks of the film trilogy as your backdrop. Throughout the tour our experienced local guides will give you great insight into why this region was an inspiration for so many movies and how it has brought the vision of Jackson and Tolkien to life on the big screen.

Accommodation Pick Up Service: Due to tour time constraints the outer limits for the pick up service we offer on our standard tours are from Mantra Marina 875 Frankton Road to 260 Fernhill Road and 159 Gorge Road. Any property outside of this Queenstown area unfortunately would not be applicable for pick up/drop off. As such we CANNOT pick up/drop off from The Hilton/ Kawarau Village, The Ramada, Frankton village, Millbrook, Arthurs Point (Top 10, Nugget Point), Arrowtown etc. unless a private charter is booked.
Clients happy to meet at our shop (61A Shotover Street) for the 8:15am or 1:15pm scheduled departures should simply write 'shop' in pick up location.
Accommodation Pick Up Time: Clients should be ready for their accommodation pick up anytime between 8:20am & 8:30am on all morning departures and between 1:20pm and 1:30pm for all afternoon departures. These pick up times are approximate and will vary depending on other pick ups, traffic etc.
Children: The minimum child age to join our standard tours is 6 years old. For families with children younger than this we can arrange a private charter with child seats provided.
No bookings can be made for the following day after 10pm
Cancellation Policy: Bookings up to 10pax: 24 hours Groups of 10+ pax: 7 days No refunds will be issued within these periods.
